Rail roads are a very important mean of transportation in Egypt. Regular roads are mostly paved, although a lot of unpaved roads remain. A good rental car would be a four wheel drive. Despite advances in recent years infrastructure still has a long way to go in Egypt and is behind what we find in Western countries.
