Ghana has a special expatriate history since many black americans came to Ghana as expats during the civil rights era. They helped make Ghana independent. Today there are not that many coming to Ghana as expatriates, but you will find people there on various assignements working for NGO's or the UN. Volunteers also abound. Most expats live in or around Accra. Some 40,000 expats of various nationalities are estimated to be in Ghana.
