The Indonesian job market was badly affected by first the economic crisis of 1997–98 and then from the 2004 tsunami and the earthquake in central Java in May 2006. Nonetheless, the labour market is showing continued improvement. Especially in certain sectors connected to international business and trade as well as the IT sector. There is also some demand for English teachers, but the pay might not be that good.
