There is a fairly large expat community in Malaysia. Among those of Western origin British, Americans, Australians, and Canadians seem to be among the most numerous. By far the largest part of the expat community is located in Kuala Lumpur, which is a city well suited to the expat life. There are a few online communities for expats in Malaysia, but they do not seem very active.
