English. That is what you will need to know to live on Barbados. Bajan is a Barbadian Creole English. It shares lexical features with Caribbean creoles. It is a mixture of broken English with an accent inspired by various African languages brought over by the slaves. Lately, it is more inspired by American English than by British English. The Bajan type is spoken by the majority of Barbadians, only a small minority speaks English with a British accent.
