The health care system in Costa Rica is one of the best in all of the Americas including North America. It is universal and financed by workers and employers. For non-naturalised expatriates very good private medicine and health care is available with most doctors speaking a fairly good English. The prices for private health care are considerably lower than in the United States or elsewhere in the West. Prescription drugs and dental service are also a bargain.
