Panama has a moderately high crime rate especially in the City of Colon and some areas in Panama City. There are growing problems with youth gangs in both cities and both cities has areas that are too dangerous to be in for foreigners, even during the day. The crimes range from assaults and rapes to petty thefts. Panama City has a curfew for people below 18 years of age. The legal system in the land is controlled by the Supreme Court of Panama. There are, furthermore, 5 superior courts and three courts of appeal. In Panama City, it is relatively easy to find English speaking laywers and attorneys.
