Bulgaria has a relatively thriving expat community and as Bulgaria has recently joined the European Union, the number of foreigners in the country is undoubtedly going to rise as Bulgaria remains one of the cheapest countries within the European Union. Furthermore, EU citizens now no longer need a working permit or a residence permit. The country is also attracting more and more foreign investments and multinationals so job possibilities are increasing for all globe dwellers independent of nationality, although it remains an advantage to speak Bulgarian.
