Bulgarian belongs to the group of Slavic languages within the Indo-European language family. Bulgarian has some unique properties including a different case system and the lack of the infinitive form of the verb that sets it apart from other Slavic languages. The Bulgarian language uses the Cyrillic alphabet although it is occasionally written in Latin. Road signs and street signs are almost always written in the two scripts.
