The Czech Republic generally has a low rate of violent crime, although petty crime flourishes in some urban areas. The Czech court system consists of district, regional, and high courts. The Supreme Court is the highest court of appeal. The civil law system is influenced by the Austro-Hungarian code of law, but there are also still traces of Marxist-Lenin legal theory although these are slowly being purged. It is relatively easy to find English speaking attorneys, lawyers and legal advisors in the major cities.
