Health care in Denmark

The Danish health care system is of a high general standard although there are waiting lists in certain areas. Health care provision in Denmark is to a very great extent a public task, as 85% of health care costs are financed through taxes. Denmark has universal health care for all citizens. EU citizens are also covered, but need to present their EU health care card. Non EU citizens should make sure they are covered by their medical insurances. The average life expectancy for men is 76 years and 81 years for women.
