Public transportation and infra-structure in Greece

The infra-structure in Greece is good except in remote areas. Athens is connected to other major cities in Greece via modern multi-lane closed highways, and all major towns in Greece are connected via the old interstate road system.

The Rail network, however, is less impressive. Although the service provided by the Greek rail network today is not of a very good standard compared to the other European countries, it is a nice way to travel and enjoy the beautiful countryside. The trains are relatively slow but quiet and reliable. However, The Athens Metro is one of the most modern and complex projects in Europe. It is fast, comfortable and very reliable. Greece also has an extensive network of ferries linking the small islands with the Port of Piraeus. There are scheduled flights to Greece from most of Europe and beyond.
