Hungarian is a Finno-Ugric language and is not part of the Indo-European group of languages. It is therefore unrelated to most other languages, although it is somewhat related to Estonian and Finnish. The language is called Magyar in Hungary. Many older Hungarians know some Germans and the younger generations, especially those who live in the larger cities, have a relatively good knowledge of English.
