Public transportation and infra-structure in Iceland

Due to Iceland's special geography less than a third of the total road network is paved, but in and around Reykjavík roads are good and renting or buying a car can be the best way to get around. There are also very good bus services. Iceland has no railways, so if you need to travel longer distances, especially during winter, aeroplanes and helicopters may be the best way. Sea travel is also a possibility.
