Moldova has a relatively poor medical service throughout the country including the capital. Hospital accommodations are inadequate and advanced technology is lacking. The best doctors and nurses have usually found jobs abroad. Outside a few centres in the major cities, hospital staff does not speak English. The life expectancy is 65 years for men and 72 years for women.
