Moldovan is basically the name used for Romanian in Moldova. There is, except for slight differences in accent and pronunciation, no difference between Moldovan and Romanian. Romanian is a Romance language and belongs to the Indo-European group of languages. It is closely related to Italian and Spanish, but also has some influence from Slavic languages. Elderly people in Moldova traditionally speak Russian or occasionally German if they speak any foreign language at all. However, English is becoming more widespread among the younger generations.
