Public transport is getting better in Poland all the time as EU is investing quite heavily in the Polish transport infrastructure. In Warsaw, public transport is quite good. Warsaw's municipal transport consists of trams, city buses, suburban buses and the underground (metro).
Buying a car or getting a rental is also a possibility, but there has been a substantial increase in the number of cars on Polish roads. Driving, especially after dark, is hazardous. Roads are generally narrow, poorly lighted, frequently under repair (especially in the summer months), and are often also used by pedestrians and cyclists.
