The health care system and the medical facilities are good in Bucharest and other large cities. However, in smaller towns and in rural areas there is a lack of medical supplies and well trained staff. The doctors and nurses in Romania are though generally well trained and many of them speak good English. The average life expectancy is 68 years for men and 76 years for women.
