Romanian is a Romance language belonging to the Indo-European family of languages. It is the official language in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Romanian is thought to be one of the first languages to split from Latin and due to its long isolation from other Romance languages it has more in common, especially in grammar, with Latin than other Romance languages. However, Romanian has also been influenced by Slavic languages and Greek.
