Over 100 languages are spoken in Russia, with the largest and most common being Russian. Russian is the only official language of Russia, but “autonomous” federal subjects of Russia such as the Republics of Russia have given official status to local languages.

There is a growing interest amoung younger russians to learn English, but most still do not speak or understand English very well.
