Public transportation and infra-structure in the United States

Most cities in the United States were built around the car, and in many places public transportation is now almost non-existent, even in large cities. Things are starting to change though, maybe in part because of rising petrol prices and more environmental concerns. The classic Greyhound service is operating bus lines and domestic planes are good value, although they are getting more expensive these days. Still getting your own car is often the best option. Cars are affordable to buy or rent.
