Government decided in mid 1970s to cease operating the railway service and none for passenger transport is now in operation. Air transport is readily available to those who can pay. Roads are getting better especielly around Georgetown. Inside Georgetown privately owned bus and taxi services are economic and usually efficient means of transport. All in all renting or buying a car, in particular a four wheel drive, seems to be the thing to do.
